Here’s what Julia Stone says about her commute to Network222:

I moved to Madison from Seattle about a year ago and, until recently, was driving to work alone from my home hear West Towne. We are a one-car family, so my husband was left at home with our 2-year old and no car. Several months ago I began experimenting with leaving my car behind at least twice a week. I worked out a bike-bus combination for commuting, but I needed the option to drive to client meetings during my work day. Community Car has been the answer. I became a member (communitycar.com), and now I can reserve one
of four cars within walking distance when I need to drive to a meeting. The cutest and most convenient Community Car is the Mini Cooper at Network222—my clients like it, too.

What do you like best about your commute?

I save on gas and parking costs, and I enjoy the independent feeling of getting somewhere without my car. The buses are filled with riders, and I’m glad to be part of a community of people who are using an eco-friendly means of transportation. I don’t want this area to become as congested and smoggy as Seattle.

What’s the hardest thing?

It takes planning to achieve my aim of leaving my car behind 2-3 times a week. During the learning phase, it felt like a lot of effort to figure out bus routes and schedules, bike routes, and how to get my bike on the Metro Transit bike racks. (The bus drivers are friendly and glad to help with that.)

Do you have a favorite spot within walking distance of Network222?

Yes, I love to go to Barriques Coffee Trader. It reminds me of the coffee shops in Seattle and has great coffee.
